The Garden Route Canyoning & Abseiling: Outeniqua Mountains are home to some of the best Canyoning / Kloofing in South Africa. Because the mountains sits so close to the coast the rivers have dug out a play ground for adventure seekers and will take you to places that can only be accessed on foot and by rope.
The steep ravine slopes are covered in lush indiginous forest, making alot of these canyons inaccessible and unexplored. This activity will challenge your balance while you make your way over slippery rocks and fallen trees. It will get your heart racing while you’re maneuvering around boulders, swiming through gorges or abseiling down the side of a waterfall.
While you take a breather and skip stones over the still dark water, you’ll also be spoiled with gorgeous scenery and if you’re lucky – you might find yourself in the presence of a troop of Baboons, Bush buck or something, a little more elusive.
To assure you of a proper non commercial adventure experience our guides have set out our own Kloofing trails in parts of the mountains no other opperator knows of or uses. These areas are void of alien invasive plants and has no signs of human activity. It is paradise.
Kloofing/Canyoning is an adventure activity that typically involves the descent of a deep ravine or watercourse that may be dry or wet. The defining factor is usually that the ravine is several times deeper than it is wide. All manner of walking, scrambling, climbing, swimming, plunging, jumping, bum-slides and abseiling could be involved.
